(Pasted from the Gordo video) The show indicates that the Shuttle refuels in Earth orbit for TLI and possibly lunar orbit for TEI, and given the fact Jamestown serves as a sort of refueling station for spacecraft with its hydrolox supply, the shuttle could have enough fuel to slow down its velocity to conventional speed for reentry.

Seeing the Columbia shuttle makes me think...in the show they're able to prevent the Challenger disaster by correcting the flaw in the o-rings of the SRBs when exposed to cold temperatures. You think they can prevent the Columbia disaster by recognizing the dangers of foam from the EFT striking the hull of the orbiter?

One major issue with this scene. WHY ARE THE PAYLOAD DOORS SHUT? Are they running on flash evaporator boilers the size of a greyhound bus?? They should have their doors open so the radiator panels go to work keeping their electronics cool.
