5 Shredding Bass Lines - Crank Up Your Speed With These Songs

There’s nothing more fun than going to town on some shredding bass lines. Most of the time, us bass players leave the shredding and faster playing to the guitars or keyboards, but it doesn’t have to be this way all the time.

There are a ton of cool, fast bass lines that sound really cool, but are a real workout as well. In today’s video, we’ll be diving into some of these shredding bass lines.

We’ll start very simply at the ‘lead bass’ level of shred and end up playing very complex bass lines.

Like I mention multiple times in the video, practice each of these lines slowly and really nail them before playing them fast. Playing fast is something you need to work up to, not something that just happens from the start.

Whether you use a simple metronome or a drum machine is up to you. The key though, is to start at a reasonable tempo, get everything perfect, and only then, bump up the speed.

Don’t make the mistake of playing something ‘sort of’ right at a slower tempo before speeding up. If you can’t nail it slow, then you can’t play it fast.

If you want to go above and beyond, you can actually bump the speed up to faster than the original recording. If you do this, then when you go back to playing at the actual tempo, it’s going to feel easy as pie.

We blaze through the bass lines in the video, so it’s totally understandable if you missed some of it. So if you want the tabs and notation for all these bass lines, make sure you fill out the form on this page:

Once you do that, I’ll send the PDF to your inbox - 100% free - so you can get started mastering these bass lines today.

If you’re not ready for this type of thing just yet, that’s totally fine. You can check out some less shred-heavy bass line lessons on this channel.

As always, if you have any questions, let me know in the comments below. I’m here to help.

Good luck with the lesson and happy shredding!

Cheers,

Luke

Playing hysteria like that makes it way more complicated thann it has to be. It is really a easy line if you break it up into the 3 main parts and start slow

I’ve never seen anyone in my life play hysteria like that

In for whom the bell tolls there is an open E at the end.

That for whom the bell tolls is not correct why do a lot of people play it incorrectly ? Everyone seems to forget the little hammer-on pull-off at the end of the first bar

What distortion did you use on for whom the bell tolls? I’ve been trying to get similar distortion to cliff using my pedal where I can customize all settings on the distortion, but cant get it right.
