Is This $10 Laundry Solution a Good Idea?

I bought a Front-Load Washing Machine Door Prop on Amazon for $9.99 to see if it actually works. I have seen them listed on other online retailers for as low as $1.

Guys, it’s made to hold open the door while loading and unloading. Some people have an issue with the door not staying open with front loaders

I've never had a front loading washer where the door doesn't just stay open unless it is pushed closed. What is this magnet thing even supposed to be doing?

People seem to be mistaking closed for latched. This is to keep the door open to allow air flow and the washer to dry out and prevent mold and nastiness. Without having to have the door open and in the way. No, the doors will not latch without a push, but some will close on their own even when level, or close too much to allow good air flow.

I think you're just supposed to put the tail of it in the door to keep it from closing.

Why? I'm 51 years old and never in my life had a door close on it's own. You have to give it a little smack to close, it's not possible to close without that push.
