When you think you're going for ww2 blitzkrieg to prepare WW3 and you end up in a sad replay of ww1...

It's a welcome irony that powerful, egotistical people only surround themselves with subordinates who will whisper sweet nothings in their ears.

Hiring military based on loyalty and not on competence is known path to disaster

Fun fact: the vast majority of the sailors that died when the Moskva sank are still considered MIA. When the soldier is MIA the Russian government doesn't have to pay out money to their surviving relatives. Unless you get your relative home in a body bag which is extremely unlikely you got scammed.

One cannot help but be shocked that the "second greatest military in the world" cannot cope with logistical problems in a war on its own boarder that they chose the time and place to start in the first place.

Africa must be the only continent on Earth that aspires to a Russian passport.

An ex US army logistics officer described how he realised how bad the Russian army was when he saw a highly expensive radar system was abandoned because its tyres had failed. He described that if they can’t be bothered to maintain highly sophisticated systems, what does that tell you about how the ordinary stuff is maintained? He had come across vehicles equipped with the Chinese tyres in Somalia, and learned then that their quality was so poor that they were functionally useless. No doubt a Russian general got a big bribe for buying them.

If Russia could fight the way it manages its bots in the comments section, it would have overrun Ukraine in two weeks.

So no one notices all these reports of Russian military about to crumble for years at this point but battle lines are basically the same

You’re judged by the company you keep! China, NK, Iran, etc.

Laziness + alcoholism + corruption = Russia.

This war has blown me away. Nobody, absolutely nobody, thought they'd even last this long, let alone inflict such high casualties against Russia. Russia has lost 10x more people than America did in the Iraq, Afghanistan and war on terror combined, and only over the course of 2 years, opposed to America's 20 years in the aforementioned conflicts. Truly astonishing.
Cheers to the proud, powerful Ukrainian people. Keep at it, the entire world's behind you.

When I was in Desert Storm, I saw some Russian navy ships. It was hard to visually determine a Russian navy ship because Russia didn’t care for its ships. They would get a new ship and 10-20 years later, it was junk due to non maintenance. Russia doesn’t seem to comprehend that ships are made of metal and salt is bad for metal so hence: remove the salt !! This situation doesn’t at all surprise me.

I have friends from Russia. One got out early on when exits were easy to find. Another … was not so lucky. He was arrested as a "known troublemaker" and, without much legal process or training, conscripted and sent to the front lines. He definitely didn't want to be there, and neither did his CO. He told his CO that he was leaving. His CO nodded, wished him good luck, and he walked away to surrender himself and his weapon.

If his story is unique, it's amusing but … not impactful. If it isn't (and I suspect it may not be), Russia's got problems.

Ok. So when does Russia withdraw? The fact is they are still maintaining Crimea and all the occupied areas of the east. I'm pro-Ukrainian and want Putin to suck it, but this video may be sugar-coating things.
