I read the "Metro" books before my first visit to Moscow, and it was amazing to see what inspired them. And how vast and spacious these stations sometimes are compared to the more modern, more utilitarian stations you encounter pretty much anywhere in western Europe. Much more feasible that a good number of people could live there.

In Brussels (Belgium) we only have 4 lines and they still manage to f it up.. they are always late. And I'm not kidding, on the weekends you gotta wait 10min for the next metro if you missed yours.. is 4 lines really that difficult to handle?! London and Moscow metro have way more lines compared to Brussels and do a way better job at running the metro system. The Brussels metro is a joke..

As halph Russian, I will say that the metro stations in Russia is a beautiful pease
of artwork on its own.
