Russia was surprised when Germany invaded losing huge amounts of troops as they where surrounded and picked oof. If they where alert and where helping the polish in somewhat prepared positions I think they would either hold of the Germans or be pushed back slowly till Germany is spent and then turn it around. Russia will be less desperate and loses many less troops also the German army will javelin to fight on two fronts vs France and UK.
