Day 4 of The FTC vs Microsoft Trial Saw Satya, Kotick, & Leaked Documents

We can now read the email exchange between Jim Ryan and Phil Spencer where they both try to leverage the Activision deal to their benefit. Jim Ryan wants Bethesda games, and Phil Spencer wants exclusives. In addition, we hear from Satya Nadella on the stand along with Bobby Kotick. There's a lot to go over as redactions didn't happen that were supposed to so let's take a look at what we found out this time.

The third day of the FTC vs Microsoft trial has concluded and this time we discovered that Jim Ryan admitted during his deposition that some of the facts he's been telling regulators around the world seem to be fudged. In addition, we heard from some financial analysts about the case and there were testimonies that had some interesting tidbits about the Sony strategy vs. the Microsoft Strategy. The Microsoft Activision deal blocked is in effect as the Microsoft FTC trial continues. This is in Day 3 FTC vs Microsoft heats up as the FTC vs Microsoft hearing continues.

The second day of the FTC vs Microsoft trial concluded and we learned about Starfield PS5 exclusivity, Phil Spencer committed under oath that Call of Duty and Diablo would continue to come to PlayStation platforms. The FTC had a few ridiculous moments including a few times when the judge shut them down in the middle of questioning. You do not want to miss this spicy update.

Jim Ryan's email to Phil: We want a guarantee that you will never take CoD from us. We also want every AB game in the library. We don't want to pay any license fee. We don't want to pay Microsoft ANY revenue for said games. You can buy ABK, but we get everything for free.

Jim is off his rocker. Him wanting all Activision and Bethesda games on PlayStation. As the market leader, who does not share their first party games is deranged. MS shouldve replied saying okay release your first party games on ours we'll talk.

It seems like that’s the FTC’s only focus is call of duty on PlayStation. Why are they pressuring Xbox to not do what Sony has done for years. That’s capitalism can’t cry about it when for years you let this cancer of exclusivity fester for years when the top console competitor set this in motion

Not just Starfield Destin, he's trying to negotiate ALL Bethesda games and better terms for ALL Activision content in exchange for... nothing but signing a paper.

Which does set off alarm bells... which warn that Sony either wasn't seriously negotiating and was trying to upend the deal, or they were specifically hoping they could further marginalize Xbox by removing all potential exclusive content from their last two major acquisitions.

I cannot believe that the documents were not redacted correctly. Sony must be extremely pissed off about that. We were never supposed to know about this information and it's just out there for everyone to look at. This case is just fascinating to see everything unfold the way that it has 😅
