So I worked food service for like 4 years on my early 20s and I always found fast food soda to be slightly sweeter than the actual thing since it's more like a syrup than actual soda

The way the sodas work.
We buy the soda syrups in bulk and mix them with water (like sodastream) and viola there ya go you got soda.Just so happens that the amount of water mixed with sprite is a little less than normal bottled sprite hence the sweeter taste

The actual reason McDonalds sprite is better is because the straws are made wider and more flavor and carbonation makes it past the rim.
