It just hit me... Remember when the Merovingian told Neo that people can be changed via programming through food? Remember the Cookie the Oracle gave Neo and told him he will feel better after he ate that cookie? she offered Neo Candy in the last movie, he Took it but did not eat it.... and his choice was different from his predecessors, because he knew about the programming in the food he was given. He knew the Oracle had a job, rewatch the movie and look at his expression when the Merovingian told him about the programming .. and then when the Oracle Offered him candy... he knew.

You can look at it like this: the architect was concerned with predictability while the oracle was concerned with potentiality.
One favoured the probable while the other was concerned with the possible. Neither were in charge of the ACTUAL, but together they made it happen.

The Oracle isn't altruistic or malevolent, she's pragmatic. She's just as cold and calculating as the Architect.

This video alone is why the Matrix is the greatest trilogy of all-time. It produces so many questions/theories decades after it’s latest movie and Sparks brand new discussions daily. It is beautiful theatrically and a complete mind boggle when you continue to think of everything the Brothers put into the film to create this following and the continued debates we have to this day. I don’t think I’ve loved three films more

Who needs to watch it anymore?
We LIVE in the matrix

The Oracle was a program in the Matrix, she isn't invisible, so she isn't "doing her job", which means that she is an Exile, probably because she had already done her job and was scheduled for deletion. The whole story was her trying to subvert The One from doing his job to protect herself, just like the Merovingian.

The Oracle could have flat out told him... Listen, machines dig to Zion, your code needs to be reinserted into the Matrix and blah blah. But Neo would have said, nuh! So she played word games to get him to the architect, thus depriving Neo of enough information to make fully informed decisions!

I want smith back. Hugo Weaving was the best thing in the movies

To me, her nurturing, motherly charm is hypnotic when I am reminded of her true cold intention - control.

Both the Oracle and the Architect were incredible casting choices.

its interesting how the oracle tells neo that he will save trinity, because he is the one - and that he asks her what if he fails? to which she responds, then zion will fall. Meaning, Neo has to save trinity inside the matrix, so he can get to the mainframe [where he must go] - because she knows Neo needs Trinity's help for him to fly the hovercraft. which is funny because the architect tells him he can't have both choices - of course that means the oracle has the architect pegged too, because she knows he cant 'see past his own nose.' haha. maybe thats why the architect was 'nervous' about her 'dangerous game' - she didnt tell him certain things, so she could make sure neo#6 would do what he was meant to do. to save humans, while also updating the matrix. She understands humans well enough to realize, programs share a similar predicament, as humans have, inside the matrix. Perhaps not as poignant, but it seems the oracle has empathy, at least to what she felt were useful programs, that are maybe deleted for what she saw as unsubstantial reasons [unjust reasons], so, she would come off convincing in this regard, to Neo, that she in this way, can identify somewhat with the struggle humans go through. Otherwise he would not cooperate. I don't recall if by this point Neo met Rama-Kandra or Kamala, yet. But those two programs cared for Sati [the program that governs sunrise and sunset in the matrix], and Neo realized they have somehow developed a sort of emotion-like and moral-like existences, as well - to a degree. I believe Neo meets them after seeing the oracle and fighting the smiths in that blacktop / bench setting. So, the oracle may have known neo would meet the train man, and rama kandra, kamala, and sati, and learn of the difficulties that programs also face.

She also doesn't tell neo hes a human / program hybrid, but in a sense Neo was used - a program was placed in him. I know this because, the oracle goes over to neo, how programs eventually need to return to the source, to either be deleted, or repaired, upgraded etc. Then tells Neo that the path of "the one" ends at the machine mainframe. Neo must have realized by then, that hes not just human, but a human-program hybrid. Its not exactly a secret that the one has "code" it carries that is very important. Each matrix update presumably improves the matrix a little more each time, but does the anomaly attenuate over time? or stay the same? Is Neo doomed to come back to life after reaching the source, each time?

I hope in matrix 4, we get to see some sort of resolution where Neo realized he was being used, but also that machines were having a sort of civil conflict within their own world, just as humans have arguments sometimes very bad ones - and they agreed the only way to stay alive was to create a program that would be inserted into a very specific human that could fully utilize this program [the one] - that person being neo. Of course, it also means that machines, in the matrix universe, they believe, if that can be how to describe it, in the existence of a 'soul, ' and a creator - beyond their own existences, from the simple observation that only one singular human, out of all the others still alive, has the potentiality to be able to handle carrying, using some of, let alone intactly / fully delivering their matrix-restart codes. The oracle must be the individual program who came to this realization, hence why she is a 'believer'.

Who wrote the code of "the one, " then? Was it the Oracle? That could, in a sense, make her Neo's stepmother.

"The trainman" "The merovingian" "The instructor" "The Twins" "The General" "The Oracle" "The Architect" "The keymaker" - all the 'high-priority' programs have a 'the' for their prefix.

The oracle said the only way for programs/machines and humans to get to the future, is 'together' - meaning, they each have something the other needs, at the very least, for optimal survival conditions to perpetuate.

I think the Oracle literally has Neos entire journey mapped out, completely. Which is actually kind of crazy but, I kind of think so now. I don't necessarily think she is evil [possessing all the qualities of being dishonest, manipulative, unhelpful, deceitful, betraying trust], but she does have a considerable amount of self interest involved in her steering of Neo's life [along with the architect]. And she eludes to this in her discussion with Neo on that bench.

If the oracle was doing the same things she does in the movies, and was human, I actually think Neo would still follow her guidance, because he knows how important she is. At that point when they spoke, its funny that she never tells neo what is behind that light-door [the architect]. She implies he must go back to the machine mainframe, and maybe to Neo, the assumption left there is, that door leads to it. Its just a trail he needs to follow, because she planned it for a long time - but, with the Architect's help. He said she played a very dangerous game, also, I think, because she involved him in it, not just her, herself - and he was somewhat unwilling, or resistant to it, believing that it would be dangerous for machines to trust a human/program hybrid, like Neo.

I wonder what it meant for the oracle to say Neo had "the sight", though. Curious, isn't it?

I think she’s referring to herself. “When programs are doing their job you never hear about them” we hear about the Oracle all the time. Maybe she faces deletion because the little girl Sati is her replacement. Why else is she always hiding and why does Sati need protection 👀

She is my favorite character. She is intuitive program. She represents intuition. What is intuition? It seeks patterns drawn from experience, put them together like a puzzle, and, looking towards the future, provides epiphanies. Realizations. Understanding where we are going is derived from the context of where we are. She seems like certainty. But keep going. She'll give you more epiphanies....like following a trail of pictures that lead to a greater understanding. She seems logical, because logic is built into visions. It is simply taken for granted.
But where she is pointing is like inductive logic, not deductive. She is probably right. If the architect seeks perfection, certainty, her "choice" is born of uncertainty.
Trust your intuition, or dont.

You have missed a few things:
1. Neo is NOT the anomaly. Smith is. The Architect says so. Neo is the control for Smith, The Architect added a "marker" to Neo so when he arrives, The Architect knows to reboot the simulation.
2. Neo is not "afraid" to approach The Oracle. The Oracle is using an old turn of phrase. Neo is seeing The Oracle with "new eyes", so he pauses to take in the sight.
3. It is no secret that The Oracle is a program, even in the first movie. She has been a part of the human struggle since the beginning (the first iteration). Whether Morpheus knows she is a program is a different question. He sees her as a religious figure.
4. The Oracle started with and always had an attachment toward the humans, she is PROGRAMMED to. The function of The Architect is to create the prison that the humans cannot escape, but he does not completely understand the human prisoners. The function of the Oracle is to understand the humans in order to build the better prison. But the PRIMARY goal of these two characters is to ENSURE the future of the MACHINE WORLD. They are working together, but The Architect sees The Oracle as an annoyance. She has added parameters to the Matrix, that The Architect has to make and does not want, in order to accommodate the human mind, so the humans "accept" the prison.
5. The Oracle gives "prophecies". But prophecies, by their abstract nature, can be interpreted more than one way. She KNOWS this...and has already come up with contingencies. She has LAYERS of control waiting. Remember, she is, "interested in the future, and the only way to get there is together." But she cares about the MACHINES...HUMANS are the power source. The machines NEED humans to exist in some form because the machines need the power. The machines can just lock up the humans, without a Matrix. But the machines have chosen to create a Matrix for the human mind, hiding the fact that the human race is imprisoned...possibly to cut down on the number of humans trying to "get away"...wasting resources. But "together", according to The Oracle, may mean imprisonment without the Matrix, imprisonment WITH the Matrix or the MACHINES getting power from the Humans in another way. But no matter which way it happens, the MACHINES...sure as hell WILL get their power from the HUMANS, because SHE is gonna make damn certain it happens and after the MACHINES get their power she no longer cares about the humans. That is what she is here to do. Like she said, "We are all here to do, what we are all here to do."
6. She offers Neo a piece of candy, the fact that it is in red paper is NOT the important part. She was talking about his ability to use "The Sight". He was not sleeping because he could not "see" past Trinity's death. Her point was, in order to see past these kinds of "inflection points" he has to understand them. The Architect also has "The Sight", but because he does not understand the Humans, he gets less function from "the sight", which is why he keeps rebooting the Matrix (resetting "the sight"). When Smith hacks the Oracle, he cannot see past the fight with Neo. Smith does not see Neo win the fight, Smith sees Neo get up when he should be "defeated/broken/dead". Smith does not understand Neo's choice to keep fighting, so he cannot "see" past it.

Did we watch the same movie?

Would like to see the architect return. His long winded way of explaining simple things is brilliant.
