I have lived my whole life in Germany (47 years), never had to pay to go to the beach (I don't go to tourist spots), never talked more than 5 minutes about insurance in my life (except for a job interview), never had a discussion about bread rolls/Brötchen and even though I drink only carbonated water, in restaurants I always get asked if I want still or carbonated water.

The fact that our privacy is so important to us Germans could have a serious background. We have experienced two dictatorships in which people's privacy was spied on in order to make them vulnerable or send them to prison camps.

Facts: "German never cross a red traffic light" I saw 8 people doing that today and its just 10 am.

You don"t have to pay to Go to the Beach. The 'Kurtaxe" is a small dayli payment you have to pay in almost every Tourist Destination all over Germany. This is due to keep touristic infrastructure in shape.

The unwritten rule is: If there are children that can see you -you don’t dare to walk over the street bevor you get the green light.
If there aren’t any children ( I think) it’s relatively comparable to other countries.👌

A running gag here in Austria (and probably Germany) is that American beer tastes like (fizzy) water. Thanks for letting us know that this is actually true and not just a joke.

She is German, but may have been abroad for a while, since her accent is a bit British.
But we as Germans can clearly tell her German accent :D

She's German. Both languages are closely related and people who speak English often (and who have learned it as children) don't have much of an accent, usually. You really have to pay attention to notice.

I love how the video starts with her saying that she is not going to mention any cliques and then mentions most those, together with stereotypes.
Not all Germans do this and some of them are regional or generational.
It's like saying all Americans own a gun or all Asians love rice. While the roots of the clique might be rooted in the truth, it is definitely not true for everyone, everywhere and all generations.

Ps. There are no true or false facts. A fact is a fact. Saying that you are only going to mention true facts means that false facts also exist.

I never get a strange look when I order still water. In fact the waiter always asks if I want still or sparkling water 🤔

She speaks like many germans speaking english. As far as I know, the Oxford english is used and learned at school. Correct me if I’m wrong.

on the fact of germans only drinking fizzy water: yeah most do, mut not all. My sister and I (both german) really have had problems with the carbonic acid while drinking, it never felt refreshing and more likely hurt on the tongue. So as a german never drinking fizzy water I can assure you: in restaurants you don't get weird looks by the staff, they just take your order.

that woman pisses me of ..
she says the things she's going to say will be facts not rumors or stereotypes... and yet the whole video is just stereotypes and straight up lies. Like the "paying for going to the beach ??" wtf is she talking about

also her backup for calling all the things facts is "because she expierenced it"

I would say her English is just very clean with pretty much no accent at all and if so a mixture between a German and British accent.

She is German 🙂 Absolutely. Even I, as a German, can recognize that from her pronunciation of English words.

I once crossed a traffic light in California on red. A sheriff who was watching this asked us where we were from and if we have traffic lights in our country. He made us cross the street 3 times until we understood the principle.

Well, I thought I was German but according to that video, my parents must have lied to me😂

I get her points but honestly those are mostly cliché too 🙈!
I mean maybe it's because I live in one of the big cities in Germany and it varies in smaller towns but people here always cross a red light (ok yes some people won't approve - and most people will judge strongly if there is a kid around!), I have never met anyone who "loved" talking about bread rolls (yes, the bread culture in Germany is big and you probably have your favourite bakery but it's not a frequent topic 😂), same as talking about insurances all the time(wtf😂), paying for the beach also is not a general thing! Might apply if you book a holiday somewhere that "Kurtaxe" (visitor's tax) is added to your booking etc. but you don't have to pay entry to get to the beach in general 😅!
Still water is pretty common nowadays (16 years working in hospitality) and you definitely won't be getting served tab water automatically - much rather you will only get tab water if you specifically ask for it and if the service staff is professional they will only judge you on the inside 😂 - and unless the stereotype we can be polite and not tell people bluntly that something looks shitty on them 😂!!! ...The data protection thing is real though....and the birthday superstition!!! DON'T EVER CONGRATULATE ANYONE BEFORE THEIR BIRTHDAY

I'm pretty sure she is German.

Her accent in English does not sound very German at all, but her German is completely without any accent.

She probably spends a lot of time in Great Britain, because her English sounds somewhat British.
Continental European English typically has more of an American bend to it

the "Kurtaxe" is not a payment for the beach. it is a fee you pay when you do vacations in some regions, including the beach regions but also many other, especially in the alps. It's about 1-3 € per day. If a city has "Bad" in its name (like "Bad Schandau"), most likely you have to pay Kurtaxe there.
