Sometimes you'll get a dashed line similar to a plane from a satellite that is tumbling in space, but you should be able to tell the diff as the dots on a plane trail are different colours to the main trail, compared to a satellite which us just a bit brighter at the 'dashes'

and also, shooting stars (meteors) vary wildly in brightness while moving

I actually just took a picture of the night sky and was surprised to see a bright line in it. A meteorite was my first thought

also i swear to god i saw a shooting star but nobody saw it so now i just.. yeah

Why do never see shooting stars streaking upwards from the horizon; or upwards in general?
