If a tax needs a rebate or a "holiday", then is that tax really necessary???
Cut all taxes by 70% and watch how fast the economy booms.

We don't want a tax break, we want a tax cut and so far only Pierre is promising a tax cut by "axing the tax", or cutting the carbon tax.

We don't need a holiday tax break, we need a Liberal party break...Forever!

Does anyone else find it interesting that the "media" continues report on Canadians saving 10 cents on a bag of chips for the next couple months?

Literally no noticeable difference on my groceries today

As a retailer I do not like this kind of gimmick! Mr. Trudeau may want to buy votes with this very stupid program, he will be failed. Justin Trudeau makes me angry.

Yeah. After the holidays we are going to pay it back with triple the tax. Stop being a fool, we are still paying taxes and never going to be reinbursed.

Although it is a nice thing, it is important to understand that a 2-month sales tax break does not truly address the underlying issues that MUST be re-structured for lasting change to occur. If our economy is stronger, then new methods and long-term solutions to tackle the mulit-faceted struggles of the cost of living urgently demand more than brief acknowledgment.
The government is good at sending up singular skeet-like initiatives.
It is not negative thinking here but simply an understanding that the issues Canada is facing are so entrenched in layers of organizational mismanagement.
We need a foundational change to rebuild. So please, let us enjoy this holiday gift, but remember there is much work to be done before the press tour of Trudeau can truly claim victory and success in dealing with the complex cost of living issues most Canadians grapple with.🕊

I looked at the list of exempt items . All they have done is create a nightmare for business, and confusion for consumers

Aside from food, which is mostly exempt it's all a bandaid fix to get us good consumers to consume more crap. We need affordable housing, we need staffed emergency rooms and family doctor.

GREAT !! We can now save 2 CENTS on POPSICLES. I sure need a popsicle. A cherry one. Don't know what I'll do with my savings tho.. I'll have to think about that.

Listen to how annoyed they sound trying to give the people lower taxes...

I waited until Saturday to buy liquor for the holidays to save ALL THAT MONEY! We host Christmas dinner and I also have relatives that enjoy Scotch and wine as gifts. After paying several hundred dollars, I find out the rebate only applies to beverages with 7% or less alcohol content! So, no wine, no spirits and no strong craft beer! I saved a few bucks! I should have read the fine print when dealing with Trudeau! 😂
