Meet Jo Shaw - Health and Social Care Graduate

Показать описание
Jo left school after her O-levels to help support her family financially. Many years later, a conversation with a colleague led to an Access course with The Open University (OU).
The Access course led to a degree in Health and Social Care, and in 2020 Jo graduated with first class honours, whilst bringing up a family as a single parent of four.
Jo’s OU study has allowed her to change her job and inspired her children to go to university as well.

Video Transcript:
When I found out that the OU had a course on Health and Social Care, the fact that I can do it from home, part-time, work alongside that-- it just seemed like the ideal opportunity.
I've actually got four children; one who's just graduated from university and the others-- ones' doing a-levels, one doing GCSE. Some of the modules and topics I've actually been doing through the health and social degree have allowed me to actually help him, and he's been quite impressed in particular about some of the things that I know.
But I think it also shows him, as well, that learning is lifelong.
