Honda Jazz Crosstar Hybrid e-CVT i-MMD

This is my very honest review of the Honda Jazz Crosstar (aka Honda Fit)

This car is hugely efficient thanks to the superb pairing of the 1.5 petrol engine alongside the clever i-MMD setup.
It's more than quick enough around town and the MPG figures are stunning. What's not to like? Well the Honda Jazz Crosstar does have a couple of disappointing areas but it'll be a good choice for many.

Despite its rather unfashionable reputation I have to say that the Honda Jazz has taken me in with its smooth drive, quality interior, and all-around practicality. This UK Honda Jazz Crosstar Review gives my honest opinion of this Honda Jazz Hybrid.

On 2 recent holidays in the Highlands of Scotland (fairly up and down) the Jazz Crosstar returned 73 and 74 mpg repectively, each journey arouund 300miles. That's way beyond expectations given my wife drove it and she does not have a light right foot!

I drove one and loved it. The raised height makes it than bit easier to get in and out of.

Was hoping you'd actually fold the rear seats down and have the camera get in for a good look. It's something a lot of reviewers - and dealers - don't seem to think people are interested in but it's more important to me than all the info tech they bang on about 😀

We found those seats useful for a folding wheelchair too.

Great cars especially when it comes to efficiency, practicality and general quality. I agree with you though. I don't really see the point in the Crosstar version especially given the price tag. A bog standard Jazz makes way more sense.

I like the styling of this Jim and really do like practical vehicles.

Bought this car 18 months ago for £22600 . Can not believe how much it has gone up.

Very nice car !
I compared Toyota Yaris Cross, Suzuki Vitara and Mitsubishi ASX, but I think Honda Jazz is the best. I like the big windows, the space on the magic backseats and that the backdoor can open almost 90 degrees. The Toyota Yaris Cross is also very nice but there is less space on de backseats and the backdoors cannot open as much as the Honda. I heard that the Honda CVT is better for driving in the mountains. The other cars make a lot of noise when you driving downhill. Negative is the price and the warranty. It's only 3 years for Honda, while Toyota is 10 years !

My Mrs has an arthritic knee, the cabin is just that bit bigger . So were looking at it along with the Yaris, but the Honda looks a bit more practical . Only one thing though . My 62 plate Jazz with 81k on the clock, go’s perfectly well and do I want to put money into a new Jazz or book a holiday ? Because lets be honest Honda’s go on forever . Nice review, looks like a holiday instead of a new car

Maybe they're aiming for the younger market Jim? Those folks who wouldn't consider the Jazz, and who've never driven one to be able to make a comparison.
I think it looks pretty smart, but the newest Jazz do anyway, compared to the 'wedge on wheels ' that I drive now 😁❤

Looks like a beautiful car, but has been value for money, I will have to agree with you Jim, and go at the standard as they are just wondering, the Honda jazz...👍

I've had one since 2020. Think it's a good all rounder. Why would you buy a 1.5 just for the city? Good on the motorway or cross country. Big inside and as large as most family cars used to be. Very economical 60 mpg plus average with relaxed driving and low emissions. Size means it is easy to park and manoeuvre through traffic. Bumpy rides are due to poor road maintenance. A good surface means a comfortable ride.😀 Crosstar more eye catching than standard model.

Jim just mentioning that vehicle score is amazing a real game changer. I've told 2 people about it already. If you guys did car influencer promotions like seatgeek it would blow up. You can run ads or have subscription for dealers tonmske bank.

Was considering it, but ordered a Standard Jazz Advance Sport in the end, to replace my Merc GLC, which Mrs D didn't like driving as it was too big. Should arrive beginning of September, will let you know how I get on with it.

I test drove both the regular EX trim and the crosstar trim and I noticed a few more differences:
* optically I like the crosstar variant more than the regular one
* the addition of the roof rails might not seem like much, but I can more easily mount a bike rack or a roof luggage box onto the crosstar
* the crosstar has 8 speakers, while the regular Jazz variants only get 4 (so the "good soundsystem" is due to it being the crosstar variant)
* the water repellant seats seem nice, but I was afraid of becoming too sweaty in them in the summer
* the crosstar variant has almost everything the EX trim has, except for: blind spot monitoring and heated steering wheel. Both of which I very like

So paying 1 to 2k more for a more visually and accoustically pleasing car didn't seem attractive to me - also I dislike that the crosstar doesn't have heated steering and blind spot monitoring. Just bought a used white EX trim on Monday and will soon pick it up!

You seem to be sat a little high compared with most typical Jazz drivers. What's the view between dash and under rim of steering wheel like?

I just traded in my cross star for a Dacia Jogger hybrid. The jazz is a well built car with a lot of kit. I wanted a bigger boot with more seats. The Honda is a far more refined car . Where the jogger is rough around the edges . I basically have everything i used on the crosstar . Main thing the jogger has that is a must for me is Android Auto, Auto wipers and lights, Front rear and back sensors plus camera, heated seats, keyless entry, that is in fact better set up than the crosstar . What i don't miss about the crosstar is Honda sensing . I hated it, so don't miss the wheel wobble, try to steer me in to a parked car, because if i crossed a line. I didn't use the adaptive cruse control so another feature that's not missed. What i do miss is android auto info on digital dash maps music etc, brake hold and folding mirrors . The Crosstar a far better built car, but it was a boring car, easiest car i have driven, but none the less boring to drive and look at

What i did was traded in a car with every bell and whistles for a car that has far more room and i am getting the same MPG, doing the same routine and driving style 67 MPG over 1000 miles now. The engine is a little rougher, you can feel it through the peddle, but the gear box is smooth. I have blasted it once and acceleration was nippy, to the point of me being surprised how nippy it was. The interior of the jogger is not as cheap looking as i thought it was going to be. Yes it has hard plastic, but i don't get that fascination. You don't touch the top of the dash for example, So what's this fascination about it ?

I got loads of boot space now and if needs be 7 seats. I can now pick the wife up from work and get her bike in the back if she has a puncture. I have the standard white, not by choice, it was a cancelled order that meant i did not have to wait till October. Ironically, it is the best colour in my opinion, now i have it, as the tinted windows, black alloys and black trim pop out and it compliments each other . I saw a jogger extreme in urban grey, that was the colour i wanted and the penny dropped, that it looks far better in white

Not so great, seats are dated, reminds me of my Nissan Serena, when it comes to folding and taking out. Noisy electric hand brake and you get a creaking when it releases and accelerate.

All in all i am happy and no regrets trading in my 71 plate crosstar . I was in positive equity on my pcp, to the point i am paying £150 a month with 5k down and a final payment of 10k . So i have a bigger car with more seats, the kit i want, a car that's nice to drive, but not as nice as the crosstar, but a car i enjoy driving more and a car that looks much more pleasing on the eye.

If you get a chance, test drive the Hybrid Jogger Extreme

I have a dog and consider bying the Honda Jazz crosstar for the fjord mist pearl colour (not available in the other versions) and for the water repelant seats. I assume, please correct me if wrong, that the seats would be much easier to stay clean with a dog compared to the fabric seats of the other versions.
