In this exercise, you import an ArcView ShapeFile. The ShapeFile uses a California State Plane Zone I, NAD27 coordinate system, and the current drawing uses a California State Plane Zone I, NAD83 coordinate system. You perform a coordinate conversion during the import.
You also create an object data table to store attribute information from the ShapeFile, and you place the imported objects on an existing WATERVALVES layer.
You use the ShapeFile's column called TYPE to choose which kind of BLOCK will be used for each point. The drawing already has BLOCKs named AIR RELIEF, BLOWOFF, CAP, UNK, and VALVE in it that match the TYPE column. In this exercise, you draw a parcel in an existing map using bearings and distances. You also list information about lines and distances.
