The Ampeg 5-position midrange control can be found on nearly all SVT, SVT-PRO and PF Series heads.

Dino digs into this awesome tone control so that you better understand its function and how to best use it to dial in your signature Ampeg sound

The wobbly knob fills me with so much confidence in this amp.

It would would be nice if you actually use bass line in the loop since its a bass amp..

I wish Ampeg would bring back the SVP rack mounted preamps. I feel like a good Ampeg tube based rack mounted preamp for going direct would sell really well in todays world where most people want the convenience of a good direct sound, and tubes are still the most desirable types of units. Im really hoping this SVP Pro i found used is still available when i get paid. They dont surface often in the used market, and i wish there was a new and improved version i could buy. I currently use a Tech 21 SansAmp RBI trying to get it as close as i can to that SVT sound, but theres no substitute. Fingers crossed that that SVP Pro is still available in a couple of days, cause that unit is exactly what im looking for, and if Ampeg actually reads my comment, please, please, please bring back a new version of the SVP Models. I know that it probably wont happen, but a man can dream, and worth the shot to ask. 😁

now I know what it does! Always had mine on 12 o'clock, never heard any difference!

Good video and explanation Dino, thanks. Just an observation though: the 5 way selector know appeared to be wiggling a bit as if it was loose when you changed positions. anyone else notice that?

Better if the drums were not going through the amp. I hear how it affects the snare more clearly.

Just a comment regarding the "synth" tracks used to demo.  I found this track demonstrates the full range of the frequencies better than it would if I were just playing bass through the amp.  That track was chosen specifically for that purpose only given the parameters at which we usually listen to these videos. (computer speakers or earbuds through a smartphone).  My apologies if you didn't find it useful for it's purpose  - Dino

Just a simple bass line with no drums would have been nice

HE HAS A BEARD. Looks awesome! I love the midrange by the way, but I prefer the middle position.

Thanks for showing me this. BTW my knobs don't wobble. Looking to upgrade. Have not found another amp to upgrade to. Would like a comparison between SVT7 and tube amps. Is the SVT8 worth it all?

I love you Ampeg, but if you're going to use this control format on 3 dif series of amps, wouldn't it be cool to print "-20/+10" under the dial versus "0/10"? IJS...

that was helpful thank you! I recently bought the pf 500 and thought that midrange thing was a gimmick...

Position 1 or 2, around 2-o'clock for all around punch!

Why can't Ampeg make an amp that the knobs and pots aren't all sloppy/falling off/breaking? 4 Ampeg heads and 3 combos into my career and they're all the same. Love the sound, hate the QC on the pots.
