What I've noticed with all these monsters in the beta is they have unique openings for focus strikes.

Chatacabras is his toung hanging out

Balaharas mouth during breath attacks,

doshagumas belly when he rears up and about to crush you

Rey during a "cool down" after any singular lightning railgun attack

I absolutely adore this and cannot wait to find all those weak points for every monster when it releases

I think Rey Dau's horns, like Chatacabra's toungue, act like wounded locations at certain points. Chatacabra's tongue happens when it is tired and lets it lay on the ground, while Rey's horns glow red after the big blast.

Inb4 they drop a mission where you fight a ridiculous version of Rey Dau or the flagship in the demo ala Velkhana, Magnamalo, or Malzeno.

Yes, let's wear the Armor with the worst Thunder Res in the beta. Suppose it's not a problem if you're never getting hit.

IF you are having trouble staying alive, wear the starter armor, it grants 5 Thunder Res as a set, lvl 3 Divine blessing which reduces damage taken when it procs.

Also as a custom meal, eat Veggies, Mud Crabs, and Eastern Honey, for +2 Def, +8 Res to everything including Thunder, and extra Healing upon using medical items.

Craft Armorskins to boost your defense, and even their Powders for other players.

Bring life Powders for others, etc. You'll have him down in no time.

Yeah, Yeah. We all tell that to ourselves after we’ve been Electroblasted into the stratosphere for the 11th time. Desperately wishing it was true. At least it has amazing music to cheer you on!

The only advice I'd question is destroy wounds as soon as they are available. Certain weapons, such as insect glaive can use wounds to refill gauges etc. So, keeping them until needed is actually more beneficial!

The fast recovery thing, it's cool when it works, I was knocked back at a safe distance, but decided to call it to heal on the go when I got up, but the way I was picked up, it ran directly at the monster and I got ground pounded immediately 😭

Definitely a cool monster to fight. I love how their moves are telegraphed so well, that even when using slower weapons, you a lot of the time have enough time to react properly and makes the overall flow of the fight just feel amazing. They’ve perfected the formula and game in my opinion. Playing on Series X.

What's the average completion time for this hunt? I did it in 18 min solo long sword no cart

The mount armour pieces are nice, but the hope set has lightning resistance and divine protection skill which makes the fight much safer.

Also when he is charged with lightning you can use a grounding pod to dissipate the electricity. And like Hollow said wounds on his head when he is charged are only available after certain moments, most notably after the big lightning blast you can focus attack the head to get a stagger off. Although Im not sure of this but I think there is a mechanic where you can interrupt big monster attacks with focus strikes to specific parts of the body; such as Doshaguma when the stand up on two feet and are about to do the big slam you can focus attack the legs and they will fall over, giving you a damage opportunity. I tested it also against chatacabra where after the does the big slam combo hell be kinda tired and hell lay his tongue out this is not a wound but instead just a oppurtunity for a topple if youre quick enough.This may be the reason why they added the feature where the health bar goes all crazy when a big attack is about to happen. Idk about balahara tho. But those three yes, Doshagumas legs, chatacabras tongue, and finally Rey Dau's head all have this and it dosent ever wounds popped.

Funny thing, I (using bow) used a dragon piercer as he was doing his railgun attack at me.

We both got hit, and i was on a sliver of health. Worth it.

rey dau as cool as everything about him is, i feel like he very much shows that he is an early game wyvern and very much so shows it with his slow attacks and very obvious lightning attacks. he reminds me a lot of rathian in worlds. i really hope we find an amped version of him later in the game

I hope this is just like a beta version of Rey. It's attacks we're way too easy to dodge. I had more trouble with Alpha Dosh
