I mean you have to say, light a normal genius high schooler was able to know the existence of death gods, realms and a book which kills people and adapted to it, killing multiple people and making the God his ally, and even after being exposed, and very close to one of the best police force teams and the best detective avoid capture, made a plan to forgot and remember everything, make a another user and their god his allies, kill the best detective, change the book to two persons, and avoided capture from two geniuses and also his lover and successor constantly ruined his plan.

If Koji wins Mid-High, he must prove that he can manipulate Japan, be in a psychological battle against various detectives which includes Near and L.
He must prove that he can survive 6 years being chased by the world.
He must prove that he can beat L
(L beats in Full Scale against Light)
Also, I know ANHS as a lot of geniuses, but all of them are negged by Light, L, Yuuichi, Johan, Lelouch, Friend, and much more easily, Koji is the only one who stands a chance against them.
There are also characters in other verses such as DN and Tomodachi that are more intelligent than COTE geniuses without including Ayano.
Or feats like manipulating the world(Friend or Johan), Rebuilding the civilization in Stone Age(Senku), surviving 6 years being chased by the entire FBI and detectives plus being in a psychological battle against L (Light).

Linguistic intelligence to koji: not only because of the wr giving him insane knowledge (even tho the LN only shown him speaking two languages: japanese and english we can all agree it's not all, he should at least be able to speak more than 8 languages) but also because he speaks flawlessly (no communication problems. He says he does but he doesn't, and it Can be misinterpreted, he talks about social skills) and since he's an adaptability monster he should have been able to learn them easily.

Direct manipulation to koji: in depth analysis we can see ayanokoji manipulating everyone everything every situations every times (ex: when chabashira sensei blackmails him he reach her collar. I'm too lazy to describe the scene so in short he makes sure to make chabashira thinks she won with some doubts and such. He also said not being sure if chabashira was genuine about his father calling the school, but it's clearly false since why would he contact a teacher? And he also Saw through her obviously; i mean look at her acting) and that from volume 1. And i can also write other moments of ayanokoji manipulating. Direct manipulation is ayanokoji's best manipulation skill (to me). I'm not saying light's direct manipulation is fodder, very impressive even before the death note (i mean it's obvious he was strong in manipulation even before having the dn) but ayanokoji wins that.

Tbh i would give deception skills to koji, but kira's deception feats are insane. Bro deceived everyone by losing the memory of the dn. While koji literally deceives himself, and literally deceives others by even more deception. Bro also manipulates others with deception. Tbh idk how to say it but his deception is that insane that he makes us thinks he's dumber then what he is even in depth analysis. (Yeah what i'm saying is dumb but in my head it makes sense) so i'll just devide deception in multiple categories:
