3 years later and I’m finally using mirrorless. This video really helped me out. Thanks.

Great tutorial! There was one area which didn't quite understand. It's about stabilized lens shut-off. I'm a nature hobbyist and just learning my new R6. My shooting set-up is the R6 with Sigma 150-600 and EF adapter on a tripod with gimbal mount. With my 6D mark II I shut off the lens stabilizer and was good to go. Thought the same with the R6 but around 8:28 began to wonder if the camera stabilization system needs to be shut off also. Please clarify what my settings should be for shooting birds.

Just seeing this video. Probably because I just got my R6. Quick question, do you notice any “distortion “ in the corners when looking at the info through the viewfinder? Hit the Q button to see the options vertically on each side.

My mother passed away recently, I am so sad :-(.
I am looking at this video because changing my mind to something else like photography gives me some hope.
I hope to own the EOS R6 some day.
Thank you for making this video.

Hey Ken, 2 years after using the watsons, how are they holding up?
And do the camera tell you when they are going down? the reason I asked is with my 80D the power bar never showed because they were 3rd party.

Thanks for this. I am a new R6 owner. How do you set the self timer to do a sefie with friends or to delay triggering a shot on a tripod?

Hi Ken, great info thanks, can you suggest a suitable flash for the R6?

11:38 - Doesn't it have *Self-Timer Continuous* ? It's when a series (2 to 10, your choice) of pictures are taken after the timer goes down. Say, a little 200D/SL2 has it.

Just received my new R6 from B&H...would not be able to set it up without informative tips from you. Got the 24-105mm F4 lens with camera and also ordered the new 35mm F 1.8. The canon site information is useless compared to your video. Also, I have the "old" canon 70-200mm f 4 IS USM and I'm trying to decide if I should trade up to the new 70-200mm RF...Whaddya think? I'll get about $400 trade in for the old one...yes I have the adapter....Thanks, Jay

Hey could you test something for me with the R6?
I want to know if it’s possible to shoot a time laps with eye autofocus on? I would use this for self portraits. I use this method with my old 6D and magic lantern. I set up a time laps and every new shoot the 6D hunts for a new focus, so I has to stay on the right position in the frame and can shoot a lot of pictures of me without having a trigger or phone in my hand.
It would be amazing if this method would be possible with the R6 and the eye detection autofocus, because i could move free in the frame without thinking of the focus, because the camera allays would search for my eye.
Would be amazing if you could test this for me and give me a answer or maybe do a tutorial on your channel because I could imagine a lot of ppl could be interested in this method too.
Best regards from Germany 🇩🇪😊🙌

I learn things I never saw in manual for you and your tips and tricks down to earth the way you use it. It made the Fv much more understandable and showed tricks I in FV I did not know before like the trash can. My R5 is supposed to arrive in two weeks from Adorama by Oct 20 and it similar the the menu of the R6 you show. I learned about the option for a color histogram in the info display (Camera 7 list in R6) but no such list under Camera in EOS R menu. I found it in time over in wrench 4 list in the EOS R "Shooting info. disp. " after some searching. I love color histograms in the Info display rather than brightness and had no idea the EOS R could do such a thing until this video. You provide priceless information on the pragmatic tips of using this complicated cameras with many deep menus to learn. Now I need to go check my EOS 5 D MkIV and other Canon cameras to see how long we have had color info histograms. As engineer I absolutely love these to set the exposure well.

Hey Ken, great video. How do you adjust expo compensation without affecting the shitter speed or will it always change that? Thanks

Hmm...did something change with PD charging? When I tested on my R and RP, the older and 3rd party batteries would not charge in camera. Only the OEM N batteries would work.

Thanks Ken, great info!
I did my first landscape shoot and found I needed to turn vivid up on my pictures once I got home to make them presentable to me, although maybe they would have been fine printed.
Anyways I just set my R6 with your settings, saturation up to 4 etc, and will try again . I have to say your quick navigating your settings lol, and I need to learn this camera .
The menus are certainly daunting at first, but I’ll learn it eventually

I know that this isn't the right place for this question, but i was wandering if there is a way to keep the backscreen off all the time except the 2 sec review. I want to be able to use the screen just for review (example of timelapse, i dont need the screen on all the time but i need to review the photo once taken.)
