How to Use IFERROR Function in Excel

In this Excel Function Explained video series, I will Demonstrate, how to use #IFERROR Function in excel. It’s a logical function and it helps us handle any error that’s comes with any function. There are many error handling functions in excel but this one is special. Other error handler handles only one error. That prevents us getting results in the big dataset. But here you can handle all the error that you know could happen along with the ones that you don’t even know could happen. Using IFERROR Function, you’ll be able to Check if there is any error, if yes, you can do certain things and if no then existing formula works just it was supposed to do.
There could be a lot of error in excel functions. Like #Name? #DIV/0! #NUM! #REF! #NULL! #VALUE! #NA
If you want to solve each error by yourself your formula will be enormous and the complexity will be beyond imagination. But using IFERROR Function inside your formula you’ll be able to handle all of these error at once.
Let’s learn how to use IFERROR formula in excel.
The Function looks like this = IFERROR (Value, Value If ERROR)
The IFERROR Function has only two arguments or parameters.
1. Value: This is where you write the function that can lead to an error.
2. Value If Error: This is where you specify what you want to do if you find any error. Simple as that
This is how we use IFERROR in excel. Remember, using IFERROR Function in excel you actually tell excel formula to return a different value if it finds an error. Mostly we use this formula because without this we will have to write more complex nested function in order to handle these errors.
