This dog seems to be doing the “I’ll get you before you get me” behavior. He’s actually terrified. Look at his tail.
Once you showed him you are trustworthy he seemed to act like he knew you’d protect him. He was trying to hide under you. Poor pup. I hope he’s doing better.
