What is a Gerber File?

Показать описание
A gerber file is simply the format of the file you export the PCB to.
Gerber format is an open ASCII vector format for printed circuit board (PCB) designs.
it is actually used for the production of printed circuits, to trace electrical connections such as tracks, copper layers, solder mask, legend, drill data, etc.
The gerber file contains also information for drilling and milling the PCB.
These files are generated by circuit routing software (I use sprint layout 6) and are sent to PCB builders to be loaded into their machinery software to print PCB.
Typically, all these files are "zipped" into a single archive that is sent to the PCB producer.
The fabricator loads them into a computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) system to prepare data for each step of the PCB production process.

I'm a beginner. I never used circuit design program before. I just download someone' project file.
I need to have my local store create pcb for me. When I send the download file to them, they asked me to convert it to pdf or some other format. The download file is in .rar format which contain multiple .gbr files.
How to convert?
