i’ve watched many story rich shows, him asking to be baptized just so he can see his foreign friend in the after life is one of the purest depictions of love i’ve seen in tv

He was a son of Odin to the end, it was in his DNA. but he hated religion, and missed his friend who he took as a slave. He hated the piratical savage nature of his own people. He realized that civilization was emerging and it was not a bad thing. Ragnar is genuinely one of the best written Characters.
