I am a Malaysian Chinese educated in Singapore in the 70s and 80s, and worked there before. From my observations, Singapore Chineses are less attached to China because Singapore government takes good care of its people, whereas in Malaysia we Chineses are not treated fairly by the government so we tend to have a stronger bond with our ancestor land, that is China.

Many Malaysian Chinese and Indonesian Chinese see themselves as "true blue" Chinese, influenced by various factors. As minorities in Indonesia and Malaysia, they often face discrimination and have experienced racially motivated incidents, reinforcing their identity as ethnic Chinese. Despite being third or fourth generation citizens, many struggle to access government jobs or quality universities in their own communities. In contrast, Chinese Singaporeans, as a majority, generally do not face the same level of racial discrimination. This context may help explain why Malaysian and Indonesian Chinese often feel a stronger loyalty to China and hold it in higher regard compared to their Singaporean counterparts

Mostly you are right about why the China Chinese are coming to Malaysia. They are looking for safe habour for their business, assets ,harmonious and familiar living conditions. Malaysia with a large Mandarin speaking population is the perfect place for them.

When a country is doing well, it attracts foreigners. It benefits the locals.

It’s very true that many Chinese in Malaysia, especially those above fifties, still have a ‘ heart ‘ ❤️ towards their roots, as they have heard many stories narrated by their parents. However, as a true Malaysian, we r still very loyal to the King n the country at the same time respecting the Constitution. Additionally, we treat our Malay n Indian friends like ‘ brothers ‘ n respecting their religion n culture. Hidup Malaysia.

Malaysian Chinese look up to China for several reasons: 1)many of them were educated in Chinese vernacular schools so they can identify more closely with Chinese culture, language and history than most Chinese Singaporeans. 2)the rise of China as a global economic and political power makes Malaysian Chinese, used to being treated as second class citizens in their own country, proud of China as ethnic Chinese. 3)China has in the past made efforts to speak up for Malaysian Chinese eg the Chinese ambassador visited the KL Chinatown some years ago during a tense time when UMNO members threatened to attack Chinese businesses, and appealed to the Malaysian government to ensure nothing happened. Which of course endeared China to the Malaysian Chinese community.

Hello Mr. Loo pls refrain from saying that many Singaporeans dislike China Chinese, especially on yr channel with so many viewers. We don’t want any unnecessary troubles

I believe generally we as Singaporeans prefer to be neutral towards other nationalities and race. Just like our leaders, better to make one friend than enemy

As a Singaporean, your observation is more accurate where Singapore is being overrun by super rich not only China Chinese but also billionaires like FB Saverin, Bridewater Dalio and Jim Rogers. The main difference between these UHWI and China Chinese is the Chinese also bring their countrymen into Singapore.
Malaysia government are giving trade incentives to China Chinese but not local Chinese, this is another form of discrimination.
As for them driving up property prices, there are some pockets but not overall.
Singapore property prices are at all time highs.

Currently, Malaysia will welcome the Chinese with open arms because Msia needs the Chinese to invest capital in the country as well as to buy up the huge overhang in the premium property market. The home ministry can also thumb their nose against the skeptics of the MM2H program who thinks that it is doomed to failure given the disappointing high requirements and agent fees required. But mark my words, within a decade's time or earlier if there's a change of government, things may look quite different because property prices will rise causing even the local rich to find themselves priced out of certain segments of the market. In addition, not all Chinese are mega rich who will come Msia to set up big factories. Some will start to venture into local businesses like restaurants, grocery chains, hardware shops etc and competing against the locals. The Chinese are hardworking and their work ethics will eventually lead them to compete against the locals. When that happens, there will be calls to put a higher ceiling on properties that foreigners can buy or the businesses that foreigners can engage in. Mark my words, the day the local Chinese stops their warm welcome is the day when the China Chinese starts buying or renting corner commercial shops to start coffeeshop businesses and introducing more innovative concepts to compete against the locals. The locals with their laid back attitude will not be able to compete.

blame the gov.... first they give the green light to developers to built high end houses without looking at the statistic of buyers...now that thousand of property cant be sold (and locals finds it no value for money) so what do they do now ? bring foreign buyers lah.

this is bad for malaysian...if developers cant sell their property...its their problem and the price should go down...but the price wont go down and instead the goverment will interfere and help these foreign buyers and seller instead of helping the rakyat owned their own house.

In MY, the minimum property purchase price for foreigners is MYR1 million (USD233k) & above per unit.
So there is NO driving up MY property prices as most if not all properties purchased by locals are below RM1 million which are in abundance OK

❤❤The influx of rich long staying tourists into any country is always a blessing. Definitely better than the estimated 1 to 3 million legal and illegal immigrant workers in the country.

The ultra Malays may blame Anwar for propping up Chinese populations in Tanah Melayu. If general prices are driven up by loose immigation policies, while local salaries remain stagnant, I think local Chinese may not welcome their cousins from China. On the China front, Chairman Xi would not like the RMB going offshores and not returning.

Others than those reasons mentioned attracting China Chinese to Malaysia compare to Thailand or Singapore is there are 7 millions Malaysian Chinese in Malaysia mostly speak Mandarin, Chinese dialects, practice Chinese customs, cultural beliefs and lastly Chinese foods freely available/affordable, Chinese schools, these made China Chinese feels comfortable.

Many foreigners still find Malaysia properties cheap. Especially properties in the CBD areas and the hotspots such as Bukit Bintang, Mont Kiara and Desa Park City. As for how Malaysians treat the China Chinese? Generally Malaysians treat most foreigners well, especially those who are respectful to the locals and abide by the rule of law.😅😊

China one child policy (1979-2016) makes a couple to inherit their parents' properties. If having 2 or 3 houses, then renting out in the cities, will made the MM2H residents in Malaysia to live comfortably.
Those about 50 years old will eventually leave Malaysia for medical / health reasons, a place to be buried.
Our Agong is from Johor and determined to welcome foreigners these coming 5 years.

They prefer Malaysia more than Singapore due to cost of living. Malaysians are more friendly & welcoming towards them.

SG is more like Australia to them. Their parents that don't know English could stay in MY without language issues.

The first wave of china mm2h group made many good remarks about Malaysia on their TikTok that's why their friends and relatives are coming over.

Due to the colonial British 🇬🇧 policy before the independence era, which greatly benefited the Chinese population & traders in Malaya 🇲🇾 .

So in 1957, the Chinese population in Malaya 🇲🇾 are 43% & they're successfully controlling the Malayan 🇲🇾 economic sector by 89%, followed by property ownership at 78% .

But, due to the New Economic Policy ( NEP ) in 1970 by the Malaysian 🇲🇾 government, which have caused almost all national companies to be dominated by the Bumiputras .

Now in 2024, the Chinese population in Malaysia 🇲🇾 are just 27% (🔻16% ) & they're controlled the Malaysian 🇲🇾 economic sector just by 56% (🔻33% ), followed by property ownership at 46% (🔻32% ) .
