Ukraine War: Russian mercenary group Wagner says it is 'withdrawing' from Bakhmut

The eastern Ukrainian city has been the focus of intense fighting in recent months.

In unverified footage provided by Prigozhin press service, the owner of Wagner said its troops had begun withdrawing, having claimed before that they had full control of the city - which Ukraine contests.

From Prigozhin's perspective he has taken Bakhmut and so staying there only presents an embarrassing downside when Ukraine takes it back. He wants the regular Russian army to get the blame for that. When this happens it will be really entertaining to watch the recriminations fly between the psychopaths.

This guy is a lot more outspoken, he may as well be leading the entire military operation. I like that he calls Putin an old grandpa, no one else would get away with that. Zelenksy said there would be no peace talks with Russia if Putin remains head of state. Personally I think peace talks arent possible with Putin as he's shown to be completely untrustworthy. The thing about this Wagner Boss guy is he isn't a yes-man like everyone in Putin's government, he says what he wants without fear of consequence, so even though he's a criminal, he might be more trustworthy.

I wouldn't trust this war criminal, even though it's logical to assume that he will try to set up the regular army to be responsible for what will come with Ukraine's counter offensive. This shouldn't be important to us, what's important is that Ukraine needs a lot of equipment and ammunition to force russians out of the occupied territories and it's up to us to provide this help.

Most of these battalions have suffered more than 70% casualties just against PMC Wagner.
The twenty five brigades listed above represents a force of at least 50, 000 men (assuming only 2000 men in a reduced brigade) and as many as 125, 000. At least 9 battalions and 5 regiments — that is 4500 and 5000 additional troops respectively. Do the math. If Ukraine deployed 134, 500 troops to the battle for Bakhmut, 70% casualties means that Ukraine suffered as many as 94, 150 killed and wounded..

As soon as he claimed they captured whole Bakhmut, it was obvious that it was a PR move before leaving the town. I don't think Russian army will take over Bakhmut from Wagner. Bakhmut is death trap for them, therefore they set back and position themselves somewhere much behind the front.
