The biggest issue with holy paladins is the holy power regeneration. Holy power is so vital for healing (and mana) efficiency that we are kind of forced to prioritize abilities that generate it. The main reason for crusader strike spam success was that it was the best way to gain holy power. The added damage we bring with that playstyle is obviously a massive plus as well.
Blizzards problem is that they are not providing us with alternatives to gain holy power efficiently. The change to infusion of light looks promising on paper but it still feels like a weak alternative to the crusader strike build.
This issue existed in Cataclysm as well up until they redid Holy Radiance so I find it very disappointing that we are back to this problem yet again.
