Even if Musk just wanted to make a joke: After the first assassination attempt, Musk appealed to German Chancellor Scholz when a German comedian made a joke about it on X. The comedian was fired because of Musk's appeal as a consequence. And now Musk himself makes an even worse joke!? It should have consequences as it had in the case of the German comedian. BTW: I think Musk did not want to make a joke, he was serious - which is much much worse and should have serious consequences. It is enough form this extremely irresponsible guy.

The two failed assassination attempts is worrying. The two shooters were mentally ill, not military trained, got hold of a rifle, and took advantage of opportunistic events. If the assassin were military trained, had a long range high powered weapon, and had develop a meticulous plan with detailed knowledge of security protocols with multiple contingencies and planned exit routes, then they would have succeeded. They would have succeeded even of Trump were not in the public spaces during a campaign and even if he were being kept in a safe house. The nightmare for the Secret Service is that Trump is unprotectable and based on his daily inflammatory rhetoric continues to paint a very large target on his own back. The Secret Service should ask for a pay rise, because whatever they are being paid is not enough to justify taking a bullet for this man.
