cant help but noticing how he manages to honor his mother, his dad, his brother, steven, lin manuel miranda, all his supporters, and the musicians just in this short segment. absolutely a class act and a master of gratitude.

"i hope this grief stays with me because it is all the unexpeessed love i didn't get to tell her" i really could not have put it better. what a wonderful way to look at grief

“What is grief, if not love persevering?” Andrew is an absolute angel, it’s heartbreaking to hear what happened but hopefully it makes him even stronger than what he is now…such a remarkable human being with outstanding strength.

“It’s the unexpressed love.” What a beautiful sentiment.

Didn't mention Spider-Man once. What a class act Stephen is.

Just wanted to say I really liked the way Colbert handled Garfield's answer on his grief. Looked him in the eyes, thanked him for sharing, held his hand with both his own. And that's enough, because the pain they feel is their own, and you are not there to say you know it, because you don't. You only have to show that you are listening, that you are there for them. Brilliant.

"I love talking about it by the way so if I cry, it's only a beautiful thing. This is all the unexpressed love, right? The grief that will remain with us until we pass. We never get enough time with each other..."
And he ends his beautiful speech with "thank you for letting me talk about her."
😭😭😭😭

Didn't expect the emotion I felt Andrew talking about his mother. Not tearing up wasn't an option

It makes me think of that scene in Fleabag when she's talking about the passing of her mother and says "I don't know where to put all the love I have for her." Grief really is unexpressed love.

Andrew is such a great personality, so humanistic and so gentle. It's his natural charm and I can't begin to express I'm so glad to be alive during his time

Andrew is so deep and loving. People who get to be around him are better for it.

Andrew Garfield said this so heartfelt and beautifully. I’ve certainly heard about grief helping you mentally, but never in this perspective before. It makes me like Andrew even more. It’s nice that he felt comfortable at some level to share something so personal and cry in public. I think it’s great that Andrew and his brother and father are so close too, and they have a strong love. And about the love for his mother being shown through art is nice too.

I've been carrying my grief like a weight that drags me down into a depression but the way Andrew has reframed it so beautifully, I will try to see it as a light that lifts me out of the darkness I've been hiding in!
So wonderfully said!! 💜

He usually stutters a lot, wich is endearing on it's own. But the moment he started to talk about his mom he stopped his stuttering. It honestly felt like everything he was saying after bringing up his mom was so heartfelt and pouring with emotions. It just shows the respect and love he has for her

This is something incredible, how strong and brave he is. He takes deep breaths to carry on with poise. He is unafraid of exposing his vulnerability and emotions to the world. He is emotional but he doesn’t let them take charge of his person. This is what strength looks like. It is not the repressing of emotions, but the ability to express them without succumbing to them.

Andrew Garfield's mind, and his heart, is beautiful. All of that translated to his acting and it's the most magnificent art I've seen.

This hit home for me.
My twin was killed in a car crash July 22, 2020. It was not her fault. Ever since then I've been carrying a lot of hurt and a lot of grief. I've never heard grief put this way before, "unexpressed love" and finishing their "song". Thank you Andrew Garfield for putting that the way you did. A lot of people needed to hear that.

This is the most amount of love I’ve seen in 7 minutes in a while. “Grief is nothing but unexpressed love”. I love that!

Absolutely moved and gutted - we are approaching the end for my father and these were hard but beautiful words to hear.
