Warning: If you're a cartoon character and you hear this sound, you're about to get hit by an anvil.

Fun fact: Hummingbirds don't snore, rather, this little one is in fact in waking up from a state of torpor, think of it as short-term hibernation where energy conservation is the goal. This includes slower heart rate and metabolic rates. To wake up from torpor the hummingbird has to essentially restart its metabolic engine and this requires a very large amount of oxygen, it's especially hard for this bird because of its size! Another researcher stated it was in a state of stress and the noise is similar to what it would make if it was, however, the film maker in this video stated that the hummingbird woke up looking perfectly happy and healthy and went on to find its next meal :)
