School-based speech-language pathologists working with individuals with complex communication needs often find themselves providing support within the classroom environment. This support frequently occurs within the context of naturally occurring opportunities within the classroom, but additional language and literacy learning can result when educators and SLP’s team up with collaborative planning and implementation.

Participants will review strategies that aim to support educators and AAC users across different learning spaces. Examples from various subject areas will be highlighted to demonstrate the ways in which SLP’s can seamlessly integrate themselves into classroom curriculum while also providing unique contributions that enhance learning for all. Participants will leave with practical strategies for supporting educators and learners within the context of engaging activities that are educationally relevant.
