This answer kind of reminds me about the time I wanted to learn how to make yogurt. Then I found out in order to make yogurt I needed yogurt.

After watching this I had 1 Q: 'How do I avoid cold hands?'

A gentler approach: Take some cold water, as cold you can tolerate, keep your hands or feet in there for a little bit until the pain becomes noticeable. Take the hands/feet out. Repeat the process. Maintain calm breathing throughout the process. Keep aiming to increase your time.

I present the cold water method that are being used in the wim hof method online course to adapt feet and hands to cold environment.
1. Fill a bucket with 4-10 L of water, insert 3-4, 5 L of ice in any form.
2. Measure temperature, temperature should be 0-10 degree Celsius. Closer to 0 degree Celsius is recommended.
3. Put your feet in the water, take them out when the sharp intense pain is gone. If it's not gone before 8 minutes take them out.
4. Repeat 3 but put your hands in the bucket.
Measure the time that you expose your feet and hands, it's a scientific way to measure your progress.
PS. If you have any cardio or cardiovascular disease you should use these methods carefully since

It really helps! I had cold hands all the time it was pretty annoying but the cold showers and going outside in the winter without gloves. Using icebath it really helped. It took some months for me though my circulation was terrible. But after a while i forgot i even ever had cold hands because it was gone

I love now I walk in the snow barefooted. I've been mediating intensely for years. The cold shook me in a way I can express meditation thru my body. Still or on the move cold or hot always graceful.

I had heel bursitis for almost a year. I tried everything to get rid of it, nothing helped, or seemed to calm the inflamation. I realized that my feet were constantly cold. This technique changed my core temperature in my feet and literally cured my bursitis in about 2 weeks. Thank you so much Wim. I thought i was doomed and had to undergo an operation.

I’ve only been doing whm for a couple weeks and when I recently went to Juneau Alaska and continued breathing and cold showers, the cold exposure outside was totally bearable. Water was typically 35°, raining constantly, chilly. I was actually warm and walked around in a t shirt outside sweating, in the rain and cold.

And while my hands got cold and I could move them fast to text or take pictures, they didn’t hurt and I didn’t feel the need to keep warming them in the jacket or whatever.

This works. I had this problem as a jr field engineer in oil and gas. -70 celsius was freezing my hands. An old cementer told me that first snow of the year, go outside and plunge your hands into the snow until they turn red. Then let them warm in the air on their own. Solved a 20 year problem of cold hands and the effect has lasted for 20 years.

This is a great starting point for someone who hates the cold. You can just dip your toe in to start taking control over how your body works ❄️🤙

I could not keep either hand in for 2 min. today, on my first try. So I did 30 seconds for each, one after the other. And then another 30 seconds. So, clearly I needed this challenge and I'll continue to do it. And will start with my feet as well.

I think the idea is ice immersion will increase the vascular strength in your hands allowing blood to flow more easily (meaning less cold)

Question: how frequently do you recommend this training be done?
Or how long is necessary to achieve significant results?

I listen to Vanilla Ice while doing cold emersion. The pain in my ears cancels out the pain in my hands.

Some people are commenting that they don't get the answer. What I got was that you practice placing the extremities in ice water, and that way you're making your extremities accustomed to it, and if you follow the instructions of the method, your blood vessels will eventually not constrict as much in the cold so your hands/feet won't feel painful and stiff 🤷🏻‍♀️
