I have a set of older 8 inch woofers (Bolivar 18 speaker) with inverted dust caps that are near impossible to remove as they have a very big of area glued onto section of the cone.. Im having issue with coil rub and i also have to reglue the spider, , so was wondering if i do my best to cut out a hole in cap to get in to shim coil can i glue the cut out back in.. ??? i know ill be able to see it but i want to keep the orig drivers in these old speaker which have a interesting story to them if one was to read up on them.... They had ties to JBL at one point.
im a newb to speaker repair.

Hey, my subwoofer dust cover is made out of like a paper feel I tried fixing it one day awhile ago and got it but not good at all it made it very weak or like bendy. So when I listen to music it makes this rattle noise or like bfbfbfbfbfbfb. What should I do?
