⚙️ In this clip, @tkdrywall & @themuddygirl break down exactly how to use our best-selling compound skimming tools for fast & professional results 👇

1. Load the area to be skimmed either by hand, with a roller, or with a flat box. Make sure the load is nice and level, free of any lumps.

2. Feather the edges, preferably with a flexible 6”.

3. With the skimming tool at a 45-degree angle, pull the mud with light to medium pressure to remove excess mud from the load and to level the mud to the surface.

PRO TIP: For larger joint areas, a light 45-degree pull may be needed to remove the remaining excess mud.

4. For the final pull, lay the blade down with medium to firm pressure to finalize the area.

I just did my first drywall job last week and tbh a good skim on some mud is the most satisfying feeling I’ve ever felt in my life lmao

My 36 inch level 5 skim coating blade is the best tool I’ve bought last year with the extension pole. From doing sheet rock repairs, to skim coating full ceilings definitely makes sure the drywall mud is nice and flat on repairs and for ceilings after scraping popcorn texture off of them.

That's fine and Danny but that's old school. We got a spray rig that sprays it on 3 guys that come back behind and Pull it tight. and then it gets sand and checked out by lights it. Comes out like glass that's how we do it in California.

That’s how we use to texture ceilings back in the 80’s and 90’s roll on the mud and stomp the pattern withe the stipple brush, ah the memories!

I liked the artex style finish before smoothing

We used to finish that with a natural sponge after rolling it on...done!

I like it… even to skim over and old texture ceiling

I'm either using the wrong mud or wrong consistency - I can never roll it on without huge globs falling all over the place

I have one of those 48 in trowels and I love it

That would’ve made a really cool textured finish 👍🏼

That’s bad ass. I’ve been a drywaller all my life. This must be up north. They orange peel everything in the south just about

I left it after rolling it on, 1. let dry 2. light sanding 3. then painted looks bad ass.

I did my first level five finish.... What roller sleeve do you recommend, I used a 1/2 Colossus, not bad but I'm sure there's better..

What size nap ya’ll using on your roller? I thought 3/4 would be big enough and it doesn’t load much at all
