Footage reveals final moments of Jay Slater search in Tenerife

Jay Slater found: Handout footage from Guardia Civil of the officers who found human remains in the search for missing Briton Jay Slater, who vanished on the Spanish holiday island of Tenerife last month.

Charity LBT Global said that, while formal identification has not yet taken place, the remains were found with the 19-year-old’s clothes and possessions near his last known location.

Members of a mountain rescue team from the Spanish Civil Guard discovered the body near the village of Masca on Monday.

I've seen comments saying "how wasn't he found sooner when that area has been searched before" Well my friends, this is how, welcome to the wilderness. You could EASILY miss a body and walk right past it in terrain like that.

Thank you to everyone that does this, you are legends. The amount of work that goes into search and rescue is gruelling with often terribly sad stories - children or ill people. You are amazing. Never let the anonymous hoardes grind you down. A son, a brother, a friend has now been found and the family can have closure hopefully which is one of the best outcomes sadly. Some parents never find out and they die not knowing.

People really want this to be more than it is for the drama of it. They’re forgetting it’s real life. People have gone missing inside their own house or workplace and were only found by accident years later. It’s not abnormal that it took this long to locate him considering where he ended up.

As a mother I am truly comforted and pleased, sorry at the same time but also please that 🙏 the body of Jay's is found and will be flown 🏡 to His parent for burial. I got up every morning searching for News about the youngster. So concer but fear the outcome of our missing Jay. Congratulations to all those who took part in the Search for our MISSING BOY.

Why did Jay Slater not stay on the road? It makes sense to keep to the road, especially when you don't know the area or place, and where you would most likely get a lift from someone travelling on that road... There seem to be more questions than answers, and who is the other second person Jay Slater was with on leaving the event on that Saturday evening. So sad to hear he lost his life when he had his whole life ahead of him... May he rest in peace.

Guys. I am relatively intelligent guy, a few years ago my dumb ass had to be rescued 200m up a cliff face as I went to retrieve my 5k drone that got stuck.
it was windy, snowing, I had no equipment, I got so far up and could not go any further or down.
I was shivering and freezing cold, no sure if I friend had called mountain rescue.
I thought I was seriously going to die as I could barely balance myself on a tiny shelf and due to shivering shutting down and losing the ability to stay awake I felt one small movement was like being on a see-saw. Luckily, I got rescued and I was 40+. I don't smoke, drink or do drugs. I'm kind of nerd.

My point is, a young lad who doesn't know his ass from his elbow probably high on drink, in the dark can easily get into a mess.
At least they found the body and have closure.
