Someone with experience in running a portable generator for long periods without stopping told me to fill the oil to the bottom of the dipstick threads if you are going to run it all night.

Everyone needs a good generator these days. Everything we have runs on electric with today's technology. To many Americans reli on the grid and government. The truth is neither will last forever or can be reliable. I have 3 generators LOL. 1 is a small 1200 watt for 1 to 3 hour power outages. The 2nd one is a 9400 watt for more serious power outages. The 3rd is for friends or family that doesn't have a generator for power outages. That's how Kentucky rolls LOL

If you get a 50 hertz generator to supply your needs and you live where all appliances are 60hz, the generator will outlive your burned up refrigerator and air conditioning motors by a long time.

lost in the rhetoric. When it runs out of gas it will automatically shut down. Duh!

If you had a gallon oil jugg fixed with a float level and a feeder gas tank you could refill while running like above your genset, I see no reason to not let it run till the valves went out of adjustment. With locktight on the valve adjustment screws I see no reason why a year would be no problem with an inverter unit that slows for low load. I would like to see the figures for fuel burn in a year, I would assume 100gallons or more. It would help if you had two running in parallel then you could service one letting the other carry the load but of course this would be twice as much fuel and oil. I would like to see what the inside of a 3500 watt Predator inverter looked like after a year. Of course you would have to remove the fire starter screen on the exhaust before starting. I would also think you would have to adjust the spark advance to a higher level so as to burn Ethel gasoline to keep the soot level lower. How do you advance the timing on one of these? I would guess you move the advance mag to its most advanced position.
