This message has really hit home for me. I struggle with forgiving myself of a sin I committed almost 2 decades ago. I FINALLY went to confession and vouced my sin out loud for the first tume ever, and even though the priest absolved me from my sin, I still havemt forgiven myself. I was talking about this with my middle one. My sons 1st confession was today and yesterday he was nervous about a specific sin that even when Jesus can forgive him, he feels he cant forgive himself. Oh I can not tell you how much I needed this message! I once asked a priest for more penance, because I had heard that priests give small penances so people are not afraid to come back to confession, and (I) felt like (I) needed more penance! 😢 why do I always think I need to take things into our hands!
