I'm with Gaston for this one- it's already pretty weird of her to put him on the spot like that, joke or not, and the way he stuck to character while still being decent earned mad respect from me. Man's knows his role and how to play it, plus he couldn't just break it in front of a bunch of kids, that'd ruin the experience. Gaston turned down every girl in town because he was obsessed with Belle. She was the only girl in town who wasn't interested in Gaston. He was so narcissistic that he had to "win" her and complete his self image of perfection.
