Let's talk about obsession and martial arts. The word obsession often has a negative stigma to it but do you need to be obsessed to improve and succeed in this very dangerous sport? Or can you be too involved in martial arts which isn't healthy?

As a general rule .. . if you want to be as good as you can be at anything, you have to be borderline obsessive about it.

1000% agree. If you think about something pretty much continuously, that means you’re obsessed, and in the world of martial arts it’s easy to spot those who are and those who take a more casual approach.

I grew up with obsessive compulsive disorder, OCD, dealing with destructive ritualistic behavior and fears of contamination and loss of control

Martial arts helped me with therapy and CBT & ERP, and became a sort of healthier obsession
I def know what constructive and maladaptive obsessions feels like, def varies with point of view
Worst downside I can think of is injuries, which if you train obsessively, you're gonna get dinged every so often...

Love your content Gabriel! Specially your boxing skills/educational videos - can you make a video on how to defend the jab as a beginner with maybe 2-3 effective combos you practice?

It’s good but you gotta be careful with getting burned out. So I’m my opinion it’s good to take a break from it once in a while but not for too long. To each his own

Just came back from Pataya . I trained at Fairtex for couple of days but my feet gave up - balls of feet developed massive blisters and one of my toes got badly infected as nail got bashed into it 😂I deffo enjoyed it and thank you for spark up my interest in boxing . I think for beginner to go all the way Thailand that's bit obsessive 😂but you made it easier with your " my training in Thailand " stories 🥊thank youuu

I've been obsessed for many years and it gives my life sense. I'm 26 and now i start thinking i sacrifice everything, and i have never made s dollar... If it has made me happy it has been worth it but all my friends has focused on education and they are so much better set... Anybody understand me and what do you think?
