ERR Message come on when you change the water filter on you GE refrigerator? Filter # XWFE?

I was working on a 2021 Mod GE # GSS25IYNRHFS REFER. I'm willing to bet this may work on other models using this filter.

Filters cost between $40 and $50. I guess it best to shell out $100 for a backup plan

Unfortunately, I also struggled with the filter problem for days before I found the solution! GE solved it with a chip, so that only its own filters can be used, it cannot be replaced with a filter from another party, only the one in which the chip was installed! (rough) So the XWFE types have a chip, while the XWF type does not! The only solution is to buy a GE chipped filter, which unfortunately costs approx. $50! The aftermarket, but replaceable XWF type is not good, because it does not have a chip!

Well except I don’t have another… I waited 2 weeks… unfortunately after I ordered and only 1 I found out it was coming from CHINA … that probably explains it!
