For people struggling to replicate the example in newer versions, I did it like this: There's a 'Converter' node called 'RGB to BW'. I simply plugged the Voronoi Color output to the BW node, and then the output of that to both 'Color' and 'Roughness'.

This is outdated but you can press Shift + A (which is Add) > Color > Invert. Then you position this new node between the Voronoi and the BSDF (your mesh). Now, attach the Color from the voronoi to the FAC option of the Invert Node. Now attach the Color node from the invert node to the Base Color and Roughness of the BSDF. (I found this solution down in the comments below as an aswer to another persons question, the original solution was published by Jarrod C but it was pretty much lost, so I felt like re-posting this useful tip)

I hope in the future the procedural texturing workflow will be improved, so it will have more functionality like substance painter and designer

For all those who are confused with the grey and white part, connect the "Color" dot to the "Subsurface Color" and the "Roughness dot.

You're welcome!

Finally we've caught up to POVRay!

2:27 I don't have the Fac and Roughness settings for that sweet 3D texture ;_;

in my blender 2.82a the texture nodes behaves A LOT different of what you showed... some bug? update issues? i'm not getting any textures at all... only changing of base colors... even changing the render options...

The Voronoi Texture doesn't seem to have a "Fac" socket anymore... but I found an "RGB to BW" node under "Converters" and just slapped that in between the texture's Color socket and the shader's Roughness socket, and it ended up looking like it does in the video :v With the Color socket still connected to the Base Color on the shader of course

Nice, pls more vids like that and guys pls make more procedural presets so we can make even more stuffs like that for example leather, skin, fabric ect

Why do we have Voronoi fracture texture but not actual Voronoi fracturing? Please update simulations, especially fracturing!

This is really awesome. however, i couldnt make it past searching for tectures. all of my textures are greyed out and i cant access them. any ideas why?

Please we need more procedural textures in blender so we can create more materials like in Substance designer.

What texture did you use in 2:53? Sorry I can't read the name of the texture since I'm using phone to watch your videos. I've tried all the texture but can't replicate what you've done

Can you animate these textures by adding keyframes?

is it possible to use vector graphics svg to also avoid pixelating?

Everyone saying “please update”, do some simple research on your own!

Not sure what's happening with the procedural textures on my side but nothing shows—restarted the program and used only the very steps shown in this tutorial: brick texture just won't display, voronoi shows different parameters (distance / color / position as outputs, dimension / feature output / distance metric as dropdown menus). The rest of the interface as pretty much the same so far (minor changes probably due to screen size) but this is uncanny and I can't figure out what's wrong. Any idea?
