Wow, someone actually picked my favorites out of this set. And here I thought I was crazy.

The hands of a virtuoso and the mind of a composer.

A confession... I have grossly unforgivably underestimated Rachmaninoff. I have just been schooled. How delightful to have had this experience saved for a time in life when I could linger in the fullness and subtilty.

Absolutely astonishing... what an ear for inner polyphonic detail. Rachmaninoff of this quality, for me anyway, had previously only existed in my imagination. I simply don't have words to praise it highly enough. The soundscapes are not infrequently surprising and yet always beautifully revealing.

At last, a pianist that brings out the inner voicings and melodic lines, which unfortunately escape everyone else. Like hearing these masterpieces for the first time, especially #8 in D minor.

I attended a solo concert he gave a few weeks ago. I sat mesmerized 20’ away. All the audience knew is it would be given by a Russian pianist. After it was over, I turned to a couple next to us who are college alumni and said “You just heard probably the current best pianist in the world”. His control and phrasing surpassed Ashkenazy at his best. His Rachmaninov is unbelievable. He is a master piano arranger with a large body of work. When we talked; it was apparent he worships Rachmaninov .

в этом исполнении не хочется ничего добавить, не хочется ничего убавить, всё звучит настолько гармонично, , и темпы, и характер, и звук! Просто, понятно и по-настоящему!

That last etude is my favorite, and I find it really sad that it is not played more often.

Impeccable execution.

A week ago I’ve never heard of this man, now I get the feeling that he’s truly second to none in technique and musicality. On top of that, he composes 😂

I absolutely love how you played no 2 and especially no 8! Those are my favorite piano pieces ever and your interpretation is awesome! Also I really appreciate that you don't grimace, you simply seem to be happy in your inner world of music. All the best to you!

Absurdly good. The tempi, the phrasing, all the intricacies rendered with subtlety and supreme taste.

I have just been listening to the op 39 no 8 by many pianists and this one is absolutely ideal for my taste. Long lines held aloft by subtle pedalling and over-lapping phrases. I love the clarity of his texture and the noble tone.

I really loved your rendition of these three etudes. I liked how you let the last note play out in no. 5 and loved how you brought out that inner phrase at 14:42. Rachmaninoff always had a way with moving, heartfelt inner voices to his pieces.

The part from 14:15-14:40 in No.8 sounds so modern. Especially at 14:31 If you listened to that piece, you wouldn't expect it to come from the early 1900s. It's a very beautiful piece, they all are. My favorite of the set is No.5. I love the parts at 9:40 and the ending bit starting from 10:40. I could just fall asleep listening to that.
