01:56 I love when the pianist accentuates the fury by hitting the A# one octave lower than what Scriabin put in the score! Very pertinent and powerful.

I love the depth added by the middle lines starting at 0:54 and mainly at 1:03. It is not heard as well in most recordings, which is why Sultanov’s was my favorite because of how clearly well voiced it was, but it overpowered the main melody. The way Trifonov does it here is incredible because it is clear enough to be noticed but not overpowering the melody.

Just saw him yesterday with the Houston symphony, he performed Tchaikovsky’s piano concerto. I can’t even explain how beautiful it was to see him bare his soul with every note.

Really nice! I love that he doesn't rush away with it, so you can hear all the notes, all the curves and points of phrase. The repeated chords near the end are magnificent. Bravo!

I have to say I always favoured the intensity of Scriabin’s original recording of the piece but hearing it played with this level clarity and nuance from Trofonov is mesmerising. A phenomenal interpretation of a phenomenal étude.
