Pico 4 VR Headset | Review vs Meta Quest 2

Reviewing the Pico 4 VR gaming headset, a big rival vs the Meta Quest 2 and an excellent standalone virtual reality machine. This unboxing and full verdict after a week of testing shows off the Pico 4 headset’s best bits, points out the flaws and shows you the full VR gamer experience.

So which is my favourite, the Meta Quest 2 or this new Pico 4? Well, this new console boasts better design, so it's a lot more comfortable for longer gaming sessions. That's helped by the upgraded battery life too.

I prefer the controllers of the Pico 4 VR headset as well, which feel more refined and offer quick capture. However, the Meta Quest 2 does beat its rival in one key area, and that's software. Unfortunately right now in 2022, while the Pico Store is getting a lot of big games, it's still lagging behind what used to be the Oculus Store.

Still, there's a good selection of action and adventure titles for the Pico 4, and things can only get better going forwards. So this is, for now at least, my favourite standalone VR headset of the moment. Next up, the Meta Quest Pro!

I had the Pico 4, then just got the meta quest pro. Meta quest pro is so much better

Hold on, you mentioned that the Pico 4 only can play STEAM VR titles Wireless but that thing got a USB-C for power and video passthrough

No Resident Evil 4 VR and no Iron Man VR (which releases on Quest 2 on Thursday). Also no Beat Saber which is massive.

Wireless PCVR is where the Pico shines the most. I even do not understand who play those PS2 lookin standalone "games".

did you update the OS to 5.2 or ? you have apps that only reviewers with 5.2 OS seem to have (the disney / prime etc)
I'm stuck on 5.1 and dont have them 🤷‍♂🤷‍♂ also mine draines battery faster going to put a wife vibrator joke here but it's a family friendly show right ? :D

I bought the Pico 4, but returned it because I experienced a little latency to the headset tracking. Especially noticeable when I was turning my head quickly or wiggling from side to side.
But definitely enough to create motion sickness.
Something I never experienced in my Quest 2.

Too bad as the image was definitely clearer.

Hi Chris. Can you help me? I just got a Pico 4. I created an account with an email address on the VR Assistant android app, verified it, all ok on the app. Then when I try to log in with that email on the Pico4 headset, it says 'This user does not exist'. Any ideas?

got mine 2nd hand for 200 ukp in Thailand, it had been updated to 5.7 so none of the previous games worked anymore, but now I have got it working with the latest firmware and its superb fun, those 150 minutes of battery life fly by

Think it a great looking headset but I wont be getting one.
As an apprentice printer the importance of color was drummed into me and also having something of an artistic bent I can't help viewing LCD screens as an offensive piece of penny pinching.
