Slow on the way down, snap the legs under to stand. The goal with this drill is to have a brief moment where hands and feet are not in contact with the floor, mini levitation. Accomplishing this means you'll have to press hard out of the bottom of the push-up.

"Snapping" the feet to the hands is a great technique to improve the speed of your burpees and leverage momentum to get out of the bottom of the burpee to the standing position.

After pressing up out of the push up, aim for a floating feeling, where the feet and hands are in the air at the same time. Land with the feet confidently on the floor, weight in the middle of the foot.

The landing position of this drill should allow you to perform another athletic move right away, versus landing on the balls of the feet and falling forward or landing on the heels where you have to recover to a better position.

The best way to improve your burpees (or anything) is to bite down and practice doing more burpees. Sorry, no magic pill for building cardio performance. You'll suck at them until you don't suck at them.

Take some time to work through this exercise, feeling everything and slowing down the tempo the push up. Practice interacting with the floor soft and quiet.
