So psyched to finally share my new song, Keep Livin'! This song was just a bunch of clever random ideas before I had the opportunity to bring it all together for a final project in my university Songwriting II class. The original spark for the lyrical concept came from this sudden recognition and appreciation for certain common cliches many of us often hear. As much as cliches can sometimes get a bad rap, it occurred to me that "the right cliche" at "the right time" could really just hit the nail on the head in a way no other words or phrases could. I guess for this reason, they are called cliches! From my emotional standpoint at the time, I was determined to write a song that incorporated as many common cliches as I could in whatever interesting ways would make sense within my song. The process of writing, recording and workshopping it was an adventure that helped keep my spirits up and alive throughout the pandemic. I hope it's just what you needed to hear right now :)
