Behind many beautiful shirts and dresses hides a dirty truth: the fashion industry urgently needs a makeover because in its current form it’s become unsustainable.

This DLD Circular panel discussion brings together Katrin Ley, Managing Director of Fashion for Good; Gudrun Messias, Director Sustainability Direction at adidas; Patrick Lundström, CEO of Renewcell; and David Puyuelo, Director of Coleo.

“The average US consumer throws 81.5 pounds of clothes away every year”, moderator Jennifer Schenker (The Innovator) notes at the outset of the session. “The number of times garments are worn has decreased by 36% in the last 15 years. The fashion industry is responsible for 2% of global wastewater.”
