For the first time ever we have here a video for ‘Telegram Sam’ which was a UK No.1 smash for T.Rex in February 1972.

On March 18th 1972 T.Rex played two sell out shows at the Empire Pool Wembley. These were filmed by Ringo Starr and are the bedrock to the film 'Born To Boogie’ which captures Marc Bolan at the height of his fame; it was initially released in December ’72 across UK cinemas. This video is cut from footage of both Wembley shows and has been made to celebrate the re-release of the film on Blu-Ray and DVD in June 2016. .

Available in several formats and packages:

The deluxe edition also features the only live T.Rex concerts filmed on 16mm with a soundtrack recorded to 8- and 16-track, mixed to 5.1 by Tony Visconti, as well as numerous extra features, some previously unreleased, and two CDs of the two concerts.

Housed in a beautiful book with new annotation by Mark Paytress and previously unpublished Keith Morris photos (and trays for all four discs), ‘Born To Boogie’ is the ultimate film of Marc Bolan and superstardom in the early 1970s.

This special limited edition is as above but contains a bonus set of eight reproductions of the original 1972 cinema foyer cards which are exclusive to Amazon.

On Blu-Ray for the FIRST time! The package also features the full matinee show as well as several extra features in SD. With new annotation by Mark Paytress and previously unpublished Keith Morris photos.

Both Wembley Empire Pool shows, in their entirety, from the day in March 1972 that marked the peak of T. Rextasy.

Presented in a digipak with a booklet with new annotation by Mark Paytress and previously unpublished Keith Morris photos, several of the songs from the second show (to which Bolan and Tony Visconti added overdubs) have never been issued on CD.

This single DVD package also features the original theatrical trailer and two bonus features. With new annotation by Mark Paytress and previously unpublished Keith Morris photos.

In the Apple Studios section of the “Born To Boogie” film, Marc Bolan and T. Rex are joined by Ringo Starr on drums and Elton John on piano. Together they perform exclusive versions of the then-unreleased song “Children Of The Revolution”, and a cover of Little Richard’s “Tutti Frutti”.

Issued on a 7 inch single for the first time ever (with a picture sleeve), they are joined by the original studio recording of “Born To Boogie”, a song not performed in the movie of the same name!

What I truly loved about Bolan is that EVERYTHING was in service to the groove in his songwriting...lyrics, solos, arrangements. Awesome stuff, even 50 years later.

Yeah, you might be cool...but can you wear a t-shirt with your own face on it under a glittery jacket and rock like a legend? Nope, you cant...unless you be Marc Bolan

Telegram Sam, Top 5 of T.Rex. Incredibly good. To be played at maximum volume. Back in 1972.

The Warrior

His spirit came his spirit has gone
But with Marc Bolan, you can still Get It On
T.rex they came and hit the scene
You should have heard, those girls scream

With his corkscrew hair and people so fair
He’d strut on the stage without worry or care
He knew just how to get into your mind
He’d bump and grind he was one of a kind

He’d caress you with his Persian glove
As he sang those words of hot Hot Love
He’d Ride A White Swan over Crimson Moon
Tickle your fancy with Venus Loon

Gave all he got, he gave it to you
Rock On, Hang Ups, and Cadilac too
All knew who was, was the Main man
With Rip Off, Slider, and Tanx in a can

Bill Legend, Steve Currie, Mickey Finn
Bumping and grinding from deep within
Satin jacket trousers, glitter under the eyes
I Love To Boogie with screams and cries

His B sides were good, as good as the A’s
Jeepster was part of the Glam Rock phase
Went to New York City he was The Groover
With Telegram Sam Marc was a mover

To some, it came as no great surprise
How this 20th Century Boy he did rise
Electric Warrior L.P. was pure bliss
Marc Bolan the Warrior we do miss.

When I was growing up my father had the "Electric Warrior" & "The Slider" albums. That was where I became a T-Rex fan. Love this band!!!

Does anybody know where the funny little scene at the 1:31 mark showing Marc "tap dancing", or whatever...comes from ?!?
I´d like to see that footage just as it was shot with the original sound but it isn’t anywhere to be found.
So is there anybody out there with an idea where it comes from or where to find it?!?

The very apex of 'fickle'....A couple of months later all these 'fans' had deserted him for Cassidy, or The Osmonds....

The dude was too wiling to grin and smile and generally being cute for the Bay City Roller wet panty thing his peers thankfullly didn't do...Can understand he had the party of his even the Beatles stopped being cute after one year mania....
Wonder where all the millions go from his still steady selling back his relatives and mother of his offspring are begging for a welfare Marc should've taken a bit better care of business, instead of stocking up on yet another out of fashion wardrobe of satin 'n tats and bibberty bobberty
