T Rex at their best, I was at secondary school when this was released and I vividly remember how these guys took the pop world by storm back then. Marc Bolan’s face seemed to be on every poster, T shirt and magazine cover. All the girls wanted him, and all the guys wanted to be him.

I felt the first overwhelming thrill of fandom watching this performance in 1972. Balletic and powerful - just 'wow!' 51 years later.

Broadcast on BBC 1's Top Of The Pops on 20 and 27 January 1972. The BBC wiped their master tape. This is a copy that must have been sent to German TV as that's why the dancing audience changes. Preserved for ever, thankfully, despite the stupid BBC.
In total, the BBC wiped no less than 8 different T. Rex Top Of The Pops appearances. How sad is that.

Didn't that "corkscrew hair" lyric turn up years later on a Lloyd Cole song?
