Learn Sun Salutation B yoga sequence and salute the sun! Adriene takes us through this common yoga asana sequence which is intended to warm up the entire body. This classic sequence can be practiced in many different variations and forms the base for a nice Vinyasa yoga practice. In Ashtanga yoga (and most Hatha Yoga branches of yoga) this sequence follows Sun Salutation A. Link these two sequences to warm up the body, get the juices flowing and even get the heart pumping! Use this as a base for a strong flow practice at home - and enjoy.

I've been doing daily yoga with Adrienne since the start of the pandemic, and today during this practice I experienced the first time where my feet went flat during down dog. I know yoga isn't about the shape--I wasn't even trying to achieve this shape, it happened miraculously, and in that moment there was euphoria. It's been a tough two years, but yoga has really shown me how strong I can be, and feeling my feet firmly on the ground in that shape was a magical moment of knowing what I could achieve if I set my mind to it, a physical manifestation of all that's been happening within me through this journey as well.

Anyways-- that's a lot of sap to say I'm so glad we're all doing this together.

A bit of information about Surya Namaskar(translation: Sun Salutation) - A series of 12 postures done as prostrations to Surya, the Hindu mythological Sun god, a symbol of health and eternal life. Traditionally, in India, it is performed at dawn, facing the rising sun. Each position counteracts the one before, therefore expanding and contracting the chest wall alternatively to regulate breathing. It limbers the body in preparation of the asanas to be followed in the daily practice.

I cannot believe I have never practiced this with Adriene. Note that when the music begins, Adriene does the final sequence without talking in case you want to follow along visually.

I had shown up for 8 months of daily yoga then for the last few weeks lost my presence. My 10yr old son encouraged me to get back to it today and I feel so much better. Feels a relief to know it’s ok to start again.

Get To Know, June 13, 2024. Finally back on track with daily yoga after taxing commitments six days prior and a huge body stress five days prior. Feels good be caught up yogic-ly. Simple and short and very welcome as it was, it packed some heat within the practice. Wasn't expecting the radio silence for the last flow, but it was a nice change of pace to energize the brain. Didn't do this at sunrise but it was just as pleasant in the evening. Namaste 💙

Salute, September 14, 2024. A welcome short practice for the day and one I was able to finally do in the morning. Missed having the guided prompts, but it was a change my mind and body probably needed. 💙

I have been at yoga for a while---and proud to say at 70 yo still at this. Best explanation for doing this sun salutation. Can hardly wait til I do it enough that is is just and great part of my practice. Thank you Adriene so very much.
