hi, no hate or anything, just a reminder that these things don’t apply to everyone.

1. while low energy could certainly be caused by iron deficiency/anemia, it can also be caused by a myriad of other conditions (such as hypothyroidism, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, autoimmune disease, etc). also, even if a person IS iron deficient/anemic, white beans alone are not enough to fix iron deficiency (they do not contain heme iron, which is most readily absorbed by the body, so they should be taken with vitamin c. also, diet changes can only fix mild deficiencies and most of the time, supplementation and addressing the root cause are necessary).

2. bloating can be caused by conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome and celiac disease and will not be resolved by eating chia seeds (actually, sometimes fiber can make IBS worse!).

3. likewise, while tryptophan in turkey, magnesium in pumpkin seeds, and dark chocolate MAY slightly help the symptoms of anxiety, insomnia, and depression, you'd have to eat a large amount of them to feel any effect (and even then, doing so might not change anything).

again, no hate or anything—i love that you are talking about the nutrients in foods to help people create a positive relationship with food. this is just a reminder from a chronically ill person and science nerd that while well-intentioned, these kind of videos are insensitive to people with chronic illness (bc they treat food as a cure-all) and are not quite scientifically accurate. as an influencer, i'd encourage you to research any nutrition-related info before posting about it (make sure to use medically reviewed sources!) 🤍

Not having energy doesn’t not mean low iron. Although it is very common to get low energy because of iron. If you don’t get enough iron you might get a condition called Anemia which is 99% reversible. Anemia can be caused by lack of iron.
Science why it gives low energy :
To get energy your body goes through a process called Cellular respiration where oxygen and protein turn into energy
The red blood cells are transporters that bring the oxygen and the amino acids (which convert to protein) around the body to get energy
However with a lack of iron less red blood cells can be made meaning there are less “transporters” aka red blood cells to deliver all the energy around the body including to the mitochondria where cellular respiration happens so less energy

I have had low energy these days, I just needed to sleep and green tea makes me feel so good. Maybe I'll implement white beans in my diet.
